Festival To Benefit Slain Riverside Officer's Family

LAKE ELSINORE (CBS) — Country artists Dwight Yoakam, Dierks Bentley and Lee Ann Womack will headline a music festival beginning Saturday and continuing through Sunday at Lake Elsinore's Diamond Stadium.

The Wagon Wheel Country Music Festival will feature performances by 14 country artists, dancing, camping, and an assortment of food, retail and art vendors.

Festival proceeds will benefit several charities, including the Jerry L. Pettis Memorial Veterans Hospital in Loma Linda. A portion of the gate proceeds will benefit the family of slain Riverside police Officer Ryan Bonaminio, event organizers announced.

Bonaminio was gunned down during a struggle with a suspected truck thief Nov. 7, in Fairmount Park. He was the first Riverside police officer to be killed in the line of duty since January 2001.

Ten dollars from each regular admission and half the price of tickets bought by law enforcement personnel will benefit Bonaminio's family. Weekend general admission costs $100.

The festival will be held at The Diamond, which is located at 500 Diamond Drive in Lake Elsinore. Gates open at 12:45 p.m.
