Valley Residents Get Prison For Kidnap-For-Ransom
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Six San Fernando Valley residents have been sentenced to between eight and 28 years in state prison for kidnap-for-ransom.
Los Angeles County district attorney's officials say the woman and five men were sentenced Friday for the 2008 crime.
Another defendant, 21-year-old Victor Torres of Panorama City, is scheduled to be sentenced in January.
Officials say the victim, who was not identified, was 24 when the crime occurred. The victim was kidnapped and beaten after arranging a drug deal during which one group claimed to have been scammed. The kidnappers demanded money from the victim's family.
SWAT officers freed the victim during a raid.
