Alhambra, Cerritos Named Most Business-Friendly Cities

BEVERLY HILLS (CBS) — Alhambra and Cerritos were named the most business-friendly cities in Los Angeles tonight in the city — Beverly Hills — known for glitz and glam.

The cities were selected by the Los Angeles County Economic Development Corp.

Alhambra was the winner in the category of cities with a population of 60,000 or more. Alhambra beat out Torrance, Carson, Downey, Whittier and West Covina.

Cerritos took top honors with cities with a population of 60,000 or fewer. Cerritos beat out Commerce, Duarte, Azusa, Monrovia and La Mirada.

According to the Los Angeles County Economic Development Corp., the winners were selected for having a demonstrated commitment to economic development as a priority; excellence in programs and services designed to facilitate business entry, expansion, and retention; economic development activity over the past three years; competitive business tax rates and fee structures; availability of economic incentives; and effective communication with and about business clients.

The Los Angeles County Economic Development Corp. is a private nonprofit organization which seeks to attract, retain and grow business and jobs in the county.

The winners were announced at the 15th annual Eddy Awards at the Beverly Hilton.
