2 Killed In Small Plane Crash In Riverside County

CORONA (AP) — Authorities say two people have been killed in the crash of a small plane that went missing from a Riverside County Airport.

Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Ian Gregor said Sunday that the homebuilt Glasair aircraft departed from Corona Municipal Airport Saturday with two people on board.

The single-engine plane was reported missing Saturday evening when it failed to return as planned.

Riverside County Sheriff's deputies found wreckage late Sunday morning in a rural area near the shore of Lake Mathews, about 30 miles from the airport. Two bodies were discovered amid the wreckage.

The names of those killed have not been released. The plane is registered to a private owner from Moreno Valley.

Gregor says the FAA and the National Traffic Safety Board are investigating the crash.
