Body Found At Scene Of Santa Clarita Brush Fire

SANTA CLARITA (AP) — Firefighters have found a body after putting out a small blaze near a freeway north of Los Angeles.

Sheriff's Cmdr. Jacques La Berge says firefighters doused a one-acre brushfire Monday morning in a ravine about a mile from Interstate 5 in Castaic.

The commander says firefighters were mopping up hot spots when they found a body.

Monday afternoon, officials announced that the body was that of a black female although no formal identification has been made.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
