MORENO VALLEY (AP) — Moreno Valley police are casting doubt on the story of a 12-year-old girl they say reported a masked man on horseback rode up to her shouting “Hi-yo Silver” and tried to grab her.
Riverside County sheriff’s spokeswoman Herlinda Valenzuela tells the Riverside Press-Enterprise the girl gave differing accounts of her story and it was determined to be unfounded.
Police Chief John Anderson says the girl had run away from a group home earlier Wednesday.
After getting the report, police canvassed the area. A sheriff’s search helicopter was sent to look for a masked rider.
