Police Shoot And Kill Carjacking Suspect In Echo Park

ECHO PARK (CBS) — Police shot and killed a carjackin suspect Tuesday afternoon in the Echo Park area.

Officials said the suspect fired an AK-47 at officers.

The shooting occured near Union Avenue and Temple Street.

The suspect was shot in the chest and died at the scene.

The shooting occured about 4:45 p.m., according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Officers in an unmarked car were following the suspect, believed to be in a carjacked vehicle.

There were no reports of any officers being injured.

      I doubt it. I would say the chances of one of us being shot by police after being in a carjacking vehicle and firing an AK47 at officers are quite slim. Whose side are u on happy80?

I stop and do a double-take. It’s actually a full-page, wraparound ad, done in the same style as the Times’s actual front page. Not sure what they were advertising — I assume it was a new Fall show, or maybe an elaborate joke about the devastation wrought by Jeff Zucker in his tenure at NBC — but I got one clear message from it. Any credibility the LA Times owned is now puddled around its ankles, like a clown dropping its pants for cheap laughs. (The fake story was especially moronic in light of the actual gun battle that took place in LA yesterday.) [...]
