Police in Colorado Springs, CO, report that it wasn't hard to spot the Ford Explorer that had been stolen over the weekend; they say they it was the way the SUV was "lurching" along the road. The two teens inside bailed out, but were caught in short order. Turns out the Explorer was lurching, because the two young brain trusts didn't know how to drive a manual transmission.

I've said it once, I've said it a thousand times:  if you're going to be a competent  car thief, you have to know how to drive a stick-shift. People, people, people: manumatic paddle shifters are not enough: you have to learn how to row through the gears, and learn to pull up, or push down, when going into reverse, or 'R,' as the experts like to call it.
