1 Killed, 4 Injured In Crash On 101 Freeway

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Authorities say one person was killed and four others were injured, one critically, when a sport utility vehicle slammed into the center divider and flipped over on the 101 Freeway in the San Fernando Valley.

California Highway Patrol Officer Ed Jacobs says the single-vehicle crash happened in westbound lanes Sunday morning in the Encino area.

Jacobs says a man in his 30s died at the scene. The coroner was called to extract the body from the SUV.

All lanes of the freeway were briefly shut down.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
