LOS ANGELES (AP) — Authorities say one person was killed and four others were injured, one critically, when a sport utility vehicle slammed into the center divider and flipped over on the 101 Freeway in the San Fernando Valley.

California Highway Patrol Officer Ed Jacobs says the single-vehicle crash happened in westbound lanes Sunday morning in the Encino area.

Jacobs says a man in his 30s died at the scene. The coroner was called to extract the body from the SUV.

All lanes of the freeway were briefly shut down.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.

I pray for the survivors and their families. I was right there when this accident had just happened. I was on my motorcycle and it really was a sad scene. There was a stroller in the back of the SUV but no children from what I saw. The news said 4 people but I only saw three, 2 men and one woman who was ejected and was being comforted by some bystanders. I looked at the driver along with an off duty EMT and the driver had no pulse. Looked like he broke his neck. His eyes were wide open but he was gone. May god have mercy on his soul.

We all need to slow down. These are tragic, preventable accidents. Speed limits should be lowered. Far to many automobile accidents happen. Very sad.
