H.S. Student Killed, 2 Hurt In Horrific Rollover Crash
WESTMINSTER (CBS) — Officials say a high school student was killed and two of his friends injured when a pick-up truck they were riding in overturned Wednesday afternoon.
For reasons still unclear, the Chevy truck lost control and ended up in a flood-control channel.
Kody Kessler, 18, a student at Ocean View High School was killed. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Kessler is believed to have been a passenger in the right side of the truck.
The driver, Jared Von Grote, also 18, and another passenger, Kristopher Howell, also 18, were hurt but did not sustain life-threatening injuries.

Michele Gile, reporting for CBS 2 and KCAL 9, said investigators did not believe speed or alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash but that they were still investigating the cause.
No charges have been filed against Von Grote, according to Westminster Police Officer Van Woodson.
Woodson said all three teens were wearing seat belts.
Gile reported that Kessler was thrown from the vehicle and pinned. She also reported that all of the victims had to be rescued using the jaws of life.
