LOS ANGELES (AP) — A Los Angeles company says it is voluntarily recalling ginger candy it imported from China because of an elevated level of lead.
Anhing Corp. announced Wednesday it was recalling DaiJyoBu Ginger Candy after it was informed by the California Department of Public Health that the candy contained lead above the state’s legal level. The company says the candy could cause health problems, particularly for infants, small children and pregnant women.
DaiJyoBu Ginger Candy is contained in a checkerboard patterned cellophane bag with a drawing of a sprouting ginger root. Each bag contains 12 foil wrapped pieces of candy with a net weight of six ounces.
The company asks that consumers not eat the candy and return it to the place of purchase.
