Police Hunt For Suspect In Lakewood Assault

LAKEWOOD, Calif. (CBS) — Police Sunday hunted for a knife-wielding intruder, who snuck into a woman's bedroom in Lakewood and fondled her while she slept, according to the sheriff's department.

The suspect sliced through a window screen and entered the woman's home in the 5500 block of Gondar Avenue at 12:52 a.m., according to the sheriff's Lakewood station.

The victim woke up to the suspect fondling her and screamed. She kicked the man, who then fled. The woman said the man had a knife in his right hand during the assault.

Authorities described the suspect as a white or Hispanic man 18 to 21 years old, about 5 feet 9 inches and thin.

He was wearing a dark-colored sweatshirt and a beanie at the time of the attack. He also had "plug" type earrings in both earlobes.

Authorities asked that anyone with information on the man call the sheriff's department at 562-623-3578.
