2 Swimmers Missing In O.C.

Officials are looking for two swimmers who disappeared in high surf Saturday in Huntington Beach.

Lifeguards noticed four swimmers having trouble in the water south of the pier around 2:30 p.m., said Jeff Lopez of the Huntington Beach Lifeguard Headquarters.

KCAL 9's Stephanie Abrams said the men were among friends in a local church group who were celebrating the upcoming wedding of one of the group's members.

"A rescue effort resulted in one male being rescued," Lopez said.

"One male swam to shore."

Two males in their 20s remained missing, he said.

Two Orange County sheriff's boats, about 15 Huntington Beach lifeguards, eight state lifeguards and a helicopter crew from Costa Mesa were searching for the missing swimmers.
