BELL GARDENS — A 10-year-old boy was struck and killed by a tractor trailer while riding his bike in Bell Gardens Thursday afternoon.

Police Sgt. Dennis Timmons says Anthony Rangel of Bell Gardens was riding west on Loveland Street and the truck was moving north on Perry Street when the two collided.

Fire officials say the boy had passed away by the time paramedics reached the scene.

Timmons says the driver wasn’t cited for anything because police suspect that the child rode in front of the truck.

The collision and the death remained under investigation.
