March is here and Spring is in the air. With the first week of March comes exciting events ranging from hockey games and basketball games to marathons, street fairs and Mardi Gras parties. Grab a friend, your family or significant other and enjoy fun activities including a Los Angeles Kings game or LA Lakers game at The STAPLES Center as well as First Friday's on Abbot Kinney in Venice. It's sure to be a busy week so get ready to have some fun!

It's officially Fat Tuesday which means it's time to celebrate Mardi Gras. Cabo Cantina in West Hollywood will be featuring their own special Mardi Gras party with happy hour specials, beads, mega hurricane drinks and more. And, with no cover charge, this is sure to be a great time! Happy hour ends at 11pm but the beads and fun wont end until 2am when the bar closes.

The first Wednesday of the month is a great way to visit The Craft & Folk Art Museum as you'll gain free admission. And, currently on view is Timothy Washington's Love Thy Neighbor Displacements, which is the first solo museum exhibition from Washington. Washington's work includes a series of mixed media as well as sculptures and folk art assemblages which tie together a social history of Los Angeles. Other exhibits are on display as well at this museum dedicated to "celebrating contemporary and traditional craft and folk art" in the Miracle Mile district of Los Angeles.

This Thursday, visit the iconic Marina Del Rey restaurant Cafe Del Rey for a bourbon tasting courtesy of one of the world's most celebrated distilleries, Buffalo Trace. Along with bourbon, enjoy Mediterranean inspired food from executive hef Chuch Abair who will serve a four-course prix-fixe menu including items like the braised rabbit and boar. Along with each course, a representative from Buffalo Trace will help pair various Bourbon cocktails with the food. The four course prix-fixe dinner includes fare such as a Pan Roased Sea Bass with crayfish, mushroom ragout, kale and cayenne oil (paired with Buffalo Trace Bourbon), Braised Rabbit with black-eyed peas, trinity and braised greens (paired with E.H. Taylor 100 Proof Whiskey), and more. For dessert, try the Blackberry and Pecan Pie which is paired with Buffalo Trace's 'White Dog' Bourbon.

It's the first friday of the month and you know what that means. Local stores and merchants on or near Abbot Kinney get together to essentially throw a street fair which features the very best food, gifts, products and music the area has to offer. The event starts around 6pm and runs until 10pm and you wont be disappointed. Thousands of people flock to the area creating an community atmosphere which makes it a perfect setting to bring your friends or your significant other. Retailers stay open later as well and often offer discounts. Make sure to try one of the many food trucks that visit the boulevard including the famous Kogi Truck.

Starting at Dodger Stadium, this annual runners marathon and parade is not just for runners. Whether you plan to participate in the event or not, you can volunteer or join your fellow Angelenos in cheering on the runners. The marathon winds its way through around 26 miles of Los Angeles' beautiful streets and will end at Ocean Avenue in Santa Monica. And, with more than 25,000 runners participating, there will be a big need for volunteers as well as those who just want to cheer runners on. Dozens of bands will also be performing along the route. This Sunday, bring your friends or significant other and enjoy a night out at STAPLES Center as The Los Angeles Lakers take on The Oklahoma City Thunder. The Lakers, 4th in their division, look to extend their lead, so be there to witness the fun. Tickets are still available and are very affordable depending on seat choice.
