If you haven't been to LACMA lately, Levitated Mass by Michael Heizer is a great piece of art to check out. The 340 ton granite megalith was transported over two weeks from Riverside and sits in a 456 foot-long slot which makes for a great setting to contemplate it and take it all in. The rest of the museum offers terrific art installations, art exhibits and more as well.

Although the holidays are over, it's always fun to go ice skating with friends. Ice skate outdoors in Santa Monica as the corner of 5th and Arizona transforms into ICE at Santa Monica. You'll have plenty of room for skating on the 8,000 square foot rink; very small kids have their own rink to learn on without worry of being knocked over. Visiting Santa, and other fun activities take place throughout the season. The ice rink is open daily through January 20th, 2014.

Catch the last day of RIOT LA, a alt comedy block party which takes over five venues along Main Street between Second and Third (Downtown Independent, the Lexington, Five Star Bar, the Smell and the Jalisco). Expect appearances from Todd Barry, TJ Miller, Paul F. Tompkins, Jon Benjamin, Kristen Schaal and Kyle Kinane as well as live performances of Sklarbro Country, Doug Loves Movies and Comedy Bang! Bang!. Tickets for individual shows are available or get a weekend pass that adds free admission to "The Lot", a afternoon party next to the Downtown Independent. Enjoy beer, food trucks and arcade games.
