What You're Doing This Week: December 5

With the holidays fast advancing, there is a lot going on around the Southland, and the place to get into the spirit this week is Orange County (with a few exceptions). Guess it's time to head south.
All week

Bring your ice skates to The Irvine Spectrum, and skate under the beautifully lighted palm trees. The prices for skating Monday-Thursday is $12 adults, Saturday-Sunday $14 adults, toddlers are $12 and skate rentals are available for $2 per person. Each skate session is 75 minutes long with various start times available.

December 6th

Families can enjoy a free family night filled with special holiday activities at the KidsSpace Museum in Pasadena. The museum will be open for free from 4pm-8pm.

December 7th

The Queen Mary will light a beautiful holiday tree on Pearl Harbor day, in honor of the United States Military. Light refreshments and entertainment will be available. The event will happen from 4pm-8:30pm.

December 8, 9 and 10th

The Sawdust Festival draws art lovers from all over Southern California during the holidays. The annual Winter Fantasy is family friendly event. There are crafts available for children, local vendors and refreshments. The winter fantasy is a unique artistic experience. Tickets are available for $6 for adults and $3 for children. The festival is open from 10am-6pm, and early arrival is recommended for parking

December 9th, 10th and 11th

Bring your children to Irvine Park from 5am-8pm to ride the train to visit Santa. The event will be open starting at 4pm, and tickets may be purchased in advance online. Guests can see a spectacular light show, Santa and play in Santa's Village. Tickets are available for $10 per person.

December 10th

Find that perfect unique handmade craft, while strolling along the beautiful waterfront at Newport Dunes. The craft fair will be adjacent from the tree lot, right along the water. The fair will be open from 11am-5pm.

Put on that Santa costume, lace-up the tennis shoes and come run in this fun holiday run. The run will start at 6am with prizes available for the best costume. There will be a commemorative ornament given to all participants at the finish line.

South Orange County's newest University will be hosting a festive holiday concert this year. The concert will be from 7pm-9pm in the Performing Arts Center. Music from community choirs, dance companies and diverse cultures will be performed. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children, or free with 2 cans of food for the South County Outreach.

December 10th-11th

This is the 49th annual boat parade that will float down Huntington Harbour to a unique island theme. Boats will be all decked out with enough lights to be seen from space. Come prepared to see a magical parade all to the best island music.
