If you're like any other parent, there are times when you don't just want - but need - to get your kids out of the house before they hurt each other. Finding activities for your kids can be hard, but Orange County boasts a wide variety of activities for them. From a science center to a petting zoo, here are some of the best places to engage and wear out your children when you absolutely need to get them out of the house.

Kids generally love animals, especially when they get to feed and pet them. A pen holds the rabbits and guinea pigs that kids can feed with vegetables available for a small fee. Kids will also enjoy the train and pony rides, also available for a small fee. In the fall, Zoomars hosts a pumpkin patch that children adore. Whether you're looking for a place to pass an afternoon or a location for your child's birthday party, Zoomars is a great option.

When you have kids of any age, one thing you always want for them is a good night of sleep. One of the best ways to get a good night of sleep for your kids is to wear them out with exercise. At Sky High Sports, kids can literally bounce off the walls without any complaints from parents. Trampolines adorn the floors and walls here so kids can jump not only to their hearts' content, but until they're good and worn out so you can all sleep better at night.

Adventure Playground is only open from mid-June through mid-August each year, but it provides some great activities for kids ages five to 12. Here your little adventurer can raft, climb a rope ladder, build a fort and get muddy. Admission to Adventure Playground is only $3, so it's a great place to take a group. If you plan to attend, make sure you consult the website for all of the guidelines for clothing and everything else that you need to bring along.

Kids find it hard to resist any sort of bounce structure, but it's not always convenient (or affordable) to have a bounce house in your yard. Well, kids can bounce as much as they want at Frogg's. They also have the opportunity to dance, run obstacle courses and build with blocks. If you have toddlers, you probably don't want them jumping with older, bigger kids. But Frogg's has you covered there too with a room specifically for toddlers. This is a great place for a day or a birthday party. Other parents are sure to thank you for bringing their kids home tired.

You might wonder how a science center is one of the best attractions for kids. Well, this isn't some stodgy museum. It's a place where kids can do activities that involve various aspects of science. Plus, this place caters to kids with exhibits called Grossology. Let's face it, kids love things that we find gross, and this is the perfect spot to indulge. Also, The Discover Science Center has been known to host exhibits about "Star Wars" and other movies.
