Like Crosby, Stills and Nash have reminded us to love the one we're with, so too should you love the place you're at this Labor Day – even if that happens to be your home. If you couldn't get away to some exotic tropical location, don't fret: there's plenty to do right here at home. Check out some of these fun happenings in your area, and you'll feel like you had a Labor Day getaway without even leaving your neighborhood!

#1 Music Madness

While some people may be listening to Pandora on their iPhones you can see the real deal in person. Check out American Idol alum Daughtry at the Pechanga Casino Showroom in Temecula on 9/2. If dance music is your thing, The Identity Festival comes to San Bernardino on 9/4, or go back in time with a little light rock when the Beach Boys perform at the Los Angeles County Fair in Pomona on 9/5. Head to FYF Fest, an all-day festival with great bands like the Cold War Kids, Simian Mobile Disco and Broken Social Scene in the LA State Historic Park on 9/3. If jazz is more of your thing, then head to Long Beach's annual Blues Bash sponsored by KJAZZ 88.1 FM at the Carpenter Performing Arts Center, also on 9/3.

#2 Sporting Event Entertainment

Why be stuck in a bar or a hotel room when you can cheer on your favorite team from the sidelines? The Los Angeles Angels play the Minnesota Twins in Anaheim on 9/2-9/4 and the Seattle Mariners on 9/5. You can also catch a little college ball when the USC Trojans take on the Minnesota Golden Gophers on 9/3 at the Los Angeles Sports Arena and Coliseum.

#3 Theatre Tomfoolery

Can't make it to NYC's Great White Way this Labor Day? Don't stress! Shrek The Musical is playing at the Pantages Theatre on 9/2, 9/3 and 9/4. Cirque de Soleil's Iris is also on at Hollywood's Kodak Theatre on the very same days.

#4 Food Fun

If you're a foodie, you're going to love The Taste, a food and wine extravaganza sponsored by the LA Times and Food & Wine magazine. Nine different culinary events are on from 9/2-9/5 everywhere from downtown to Beverly Hills. Bon appétit!

#5 Film Festivity

If you're a die-hard film buff, you're definitely going to want to head to Cinecon's Classic Film Festival over Labor Day weekend. The five-day cinematic bacchanal specializes in rare films from the silent and early sound era. In addition to the 30 movies being screened, you'll get an added bonus by the surprise celebrity attendees who will also be on hand at the Egyptian Theatre.

#6 Art Action

Love Art Deco? Learn all about the design style that originated in 1920's Paris onboard the Queen Mary during Long Beach's Annual Art Deco Festival from 9/2-9/4. Attend lectures, tours, an afternoon Tea Dance, Pajama Party and ball in celebration. It won't be an experience you're likely to soon forget!

#7 Frolicking At Fairs & Festivals

Hermosa hosts their Fiesta Fair, a three-day arts and crafts festival with 270 vendors, live music and a children's carnival at the Hermosa Beach Pier from 9/3-9/5. The LA County Fair kicks off over Labor Day weekend; enjoy rides, livestock, gardening and a traveling circus at the month-long annual fair in Pomona. You can also celebrate Los Angeles' birthday on the early morning "Los Pobladores – Walk to Los Angeles", which originates at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels on 9/3.
