Longing for their Strip back, the community bids the season a proper fond farewell layered with a heavy dose of rock and roll. Yes, it’s already time to raise your cup and toast the two-day Sunset Strip Music Festival coming to town on September 20 & 21st.

About The Music Festival
As small and intimate concerts in L.A. go, SSMF is no ordinary show. Each year it returns, welcoming home bands that injected pure pleasure into the L.A. music scene. This year, bringing it back old-school style to the Main Stage, the members of Jane’s Addiction (Perry Farrell, Dave Navarro, Stephen Perkins and Chris Chaney) are set to perform it’s 1988 classic Nothing’s Shocking in it’s entirety. Returning back to where it all began, it couldn’t be a more fitting way to commemorate the album’s 25th anniversary. Locals who caught their one-night only club show at The Roxy a few years back clearly understand how well Jane’s still embraces their past and honors it’s L.A. roots. This show will be no exception – let’s just say “Nothing’s Shocking” and anything is possible.
2014 SSMF Highlights + Lineup
In addition to headlining shows, the street festival will include a total of three outdoor stages, interactive experiences, and food and beverage offerings converting the Strip into a true music festival. The Strip’s most iconic venues: Whisky A Go-Go, The Roxy and Viper Room will be hosting live performances for ticketed attendees during and after the festival closes (11:00 – 2:00 am.) on a first come, first serve basis.
To kick-off the festivities, Friday night, the members of Jane’s Addiction will receive the prestigious “Elmer Valentine Award” at an invite-only honoree event hosted at the House of Blues Sunset Strip. This award celebrates music and icons that have impacted the legacy of The Strip throughout recent decades. Past honorees have included: Ozzy Osbourne (2009), Slash (2010), Mötley Crüe (2011), The Doors (2012) and Joan Jett (2013).
Other bands on the bill ready to take stage and pay homage over the weekend are Taylor Hawkins (Foo Fighters) and his side-project, The Birds of Satan, with Wiley Hodgden and Mick Murphy, Failure, Cold War Kids, Minus the Bear, Kaiser Chiefs, Nightmare and the Cat, Beware of Darkness and Say Say, Empire of the Sun, Destructo, Mayer Hawthorne, Iration, Big Data, Tove Lo, Big Freedia, We Came As Romans, Nostalghia and Fenech-Soler.

Where To Stay
1200 Alta Loma Road,
West Hollywood, CA 90069
Rock stars stay all over L.A., but the legends actually live at Sunset Marquis. Whether you’re looking for a staycation or are traveling to L.A. for the event, book your room at L.A.’s last rock and roll oasis, and there is no telling who you will be sitting next to at Cavatina, sharing a drink with at Bar 1200, or which GRAMMY award winning musician will be jamming in the garden. Don’t believe the hype? A quick thumb through their book, “If These Walls Could Rock!” will explain it all. Oh, and P.S. They can even hook you up with a guitar throughout your stay in case you get the urge to shred.
