THE DEFENSE

Q: Hi Amber! Welcome to Defend Your Ride Los Angeles. Can you tell us about your Toyota?

A: It gets me around and has been since 2004. I bought it used in 2004 in Maryland. My mom got it for me when I was in college. That is why it still has Maryland plates--because I'm holding onto home.

Q: So it has nothing to do with cheaper insurance?

A: Of course not! No!

Q: Do you have a nickname for your Maryland Toyota Corolla?

A: Allen. Allen is named after Allen Iverson. I had a very long crush on him. I have gone to many a party that he was hosting and I've never got to see him.

Q: And what is Allen's main use?

A: It takes me to my nine to five work and to my part-time job as an actor. The nine to five is going great, but I would like to do my acting full-time. I came out here for acting and modeling back in 2006.

Q: And what's your nine to five job?

A: I work at Disney ABC TV in advertising sales.

Q: Ah, the competition. This will be posted to CBS LA, of course. Tell us Amber, what's your general philosophy about driving in LA?

A: Drive for the other drivers because they clearly can't! The traffic is, of course, horrible. Always. You never know if you're going to make it on time or not, so you have to leave extra early to give you time for traffic. Something as short as 20 minutes away could take about an hour to get there.

Q: That's certainly true. Have you ever taken Allen on a day trip?

A: He hasn't gone on many day trips except for Disneyland. That's probably the farthest Allen has gone since I've been here, but I go there often. I get in for free. I got my car shipped. I cheated.

Q: Well, kudos for fessing up to that. Do you have any rules in your car?

A: My rule is let me control the radio. That's it. Let me control the radio and take out the trash that you bring in.

Q: What do you listen to in the car when you drive?

A: I have a wide range of music that I love from rap to R&B to pop. I listen to Maroon 5, Britney Spears, Lady Gaga.

Q: Nice. If your car had a theme song, what would it be?

A: That's a good question! The theme song would be "Movin' On Up" because one day Allen is going to transform into a Rolls Royce.

Q: Sounds like a plan! Is there anything else we should know about your car?

A: If you ever wanna buy your child a car in college, I'd say Toyota is the way to go. It has really gotten me through all these years from Maryland college days to now being an adult and working full-time.
