Giving back to the community can be done through various organized events that include walks/runs, fun activities and even meet-and-greets in Downtown Disney with celebrity athletes. Take a moment to reflect and give back to the community with the upcoming charity events taking place in the Orange County area.

The Orange County United Way organization helps to improve the lives of locals by strengthening the community. To do this, it focuses on coming together for the next generation by concentrating on education, income, health and housing. The organization has set goals of cutting the high school dropout rate in half to reducing poverty in the Orange County area and even cutting the homeless and house-insecure children in Orange County in half. These are bold goals but the Orange County United Way hopes that with the involvement of the community, this can be made possible. The race is a 5K (3.1 miles) event that begins at Angel Stadium. The Alice in Wonderland-inspired "tee party" begins at 12:30 p.m. for the 11th annual golf outing with nine holes of golf and great food for all to enjoy. All proceeds of the event will help benefit families of the child abuse prevention center. The prevention center has offered a variety of programs that help address the matters of child abuse and family violence since 1983. The main goal for the organization is to make sure children are raised in a healthy and safe environment. Also, the goal is to make sure these children become socially and emotionally active members of the society. There will also be a chance to win $1,000 during the helicopter golf ball drop.

This Independence Day tradition races through the Crown Valley Community and Laguna Niguel Regional Parks. The proceeds of the race will help benefit the YMCA Scholarship program. Registration begins at 6 a.m. the day of the race with the races beginning at 7:30 a.m. The kids' races begin at 9:30 a.m. You can even volunteer to help at the event by contacting the information provided above.

C.J. Wilson of the Los Angeles Angels will be hosting a charity event in honor of C.J. Wilson's Children's Charities at the ESPN Zone in downtown Disney. A donation of $60 will ensure your admission to the event which will include a photo with C.J. Wilson and other surprise celebrity players. You will also have unlimited access to the video games and a chance to enter a raffle to win prizes at the event. A silent auction will take place of art pieces created by the children at CHOC hospital. The proceeds will help benefit the C.J. Wilson's Children's Charities and the Hematology Program of Children's Hospital of Orange County.

Take a chance to support the Make-A-Wish Orange County and Inland Empire along with Leadership Tomorrow and New Directions for Women by attending this year's Lobsterfest in Newport Beach. It is a fun and entertaining afternoon where Maine lobster is flown in and prepared fresh. Don't forget the kids activities with a live rock-n-pop band. Kayaks can also be rented in the back bay and bicycles are available for rental on the premises.
