Los Angeles is full of these type of events all year long, but some of the best races happen during the spring. Check out a few of the ones below, just to get a little taste.

For those who love to run and love a nice beach view and breeze, registration for the 2016 Santa Monica Classic is now open. Whether you love long-distance running or prefer shorter distances, the Santa Monica Classic consists of two events. The 5K race will kick off first, followed by the 10K. Immediately following the race, runners and walkers can purchase their participant T-shirt and engage in post-race refreshments to boost up their energy. This event is definitely one to get into shape and stay in shape for the summer and throughout the holiday season.

Hosted by Herbalife Nutrition, the LA Galaxy 5K and Cozmo Run is another family fun event. Each year there is something new added to the itinerary, and this year there will be a course finishing in the main stadium with participants being able to watch themselves cross the finish line on StubHub Center’s Galaxy TV Board.

In celebration of Memorial Day, New Directions for Veterans will be paying to tribute to and honoring our heroes with their annual 5K Run/Walk for Warriors event held on the beautiful Veterans Affair Campus in West L.A. The walk is 3.1 miles and will feature live music and kid-friendly activities, so bring the kiddos along and have some fun!

Why not tour Garden Grove and get fit at the same time? The Strawberry Stomp 5K gives runners a scenic tour of downtown Garden Grove. While on your run, you will get to experience different sites of the city that you probably haven’t ever considered checking out. Some of these sites include the Historic Main Street, which is also where the race ends and runners are free to hang out. Every person that finishes the race is considered a winner and will receive a medal.

Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon

Sometimes you just have to make running fun! Since 1998, the Rick ‘n’ Roll Marathon has been transforming the running landscape and igniting the second running boom. The thing that makes this event different other marathons is that it infuses entertainment with the running festivities. The weekend of the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon will consist of a health and fitness expo and a concert series with big name and top-of-the-line artists. Artists at past events have included Pit Bull, Goo Goo Dolla, Flo Rida, and more.
