For the ultimate shopping experience, LA Fashion Market will be hosting a mega fashion event that only happens five times per year in January, March, June, August and October. Retailers from all over the world flock to this event every year because the diversity in clothing, shoes and accessories at Los Angeles’ fashion event is beyond that of any other showroom or trade show on the West Coast. For 26 years, the Vintage Fashion Expo has proven that vintage fashion never really goes away. Instead it’s reborn over and over again creating timeless fashions we can hardly keep up with. Featuring iconic fashion labels such as Chanel and Dior and items inspired by virtually every decade in the 20th century, the Vintage Fashion Expo makes the list for best fashion events in Los Angeles because it’s such a great place to go for almost anything vintage from costume jewelry to vintage shoes. Some of the exhibitors that will be there this year include Cheeky Vintage, Hot Couture, Little Treasures, Revamp, Skirt Chaser Vintage and Vintazia Vintage.

If you like movies and want to appreciate the people who help make them, then this annual exhibition of costume design for film is well worth attending at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising. The purpose behind featuring exhibits like these is to provide students, designers and the general public with a resource for exploring the impact historic fashions have had on society at large. Costumes featured in select 2013 films will be on display including last year’s Academy Award winner for Best Costume Design, Jacqueline Durran, for her work in “Anna Karenina” starring Keira Knightley.

Style Fashion Week

Style Fashion Week is the biggest event of the season featuring fall 2014 collections from some of the most influential designers in the world as well as five days of red carpet arrivals, runway fashion shows and product launches. It’s been recently dubbed as the official LA Fashion Week, especially in light of a fashion quote made famous by French fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent: “Fashion fades; style is eternal.” Style Fashion Week LA continues to do its part in transforming the fashion in LA into what it has become today, diverse in both culture and style.

While official details have yet to be released, the inside scoop is that this is by far one of the best fashion events in Los Angeles. It’s usually held at the Avalon every year and is basically a huge art gallery and showcase, fashion show and live music concert all rolled into one. Attendees range from buyers and retailers to media personalities, fashion stylists and consumers alike. When Project Ethos first launched back in 2005 at the El Rey Theater, it was the first time ever that fashion, music and art all came together under one roof in one night. It was also one of the first fashion industry events to open its doors to the general public.
