When the summer hits, school is out of session and kids are looking for fun and creative ways to spend their down time. Parents are equally interested in serving up the fun during summer break with creative outlets and rewarding recreational activities. For many, summer day camps are the best way to fill these voids, and not surprisingly, Orange County is home to some of the best summer camps state side. Here is a look at the Best Summer Day Camps in OC.

For an amazing summer line up that includes fun, hands-on learning and lessons in faith, Capo Beach Christian School's Summer Quest camp is at the center of it all. This faith-based camp alleviates boredom by immersing campers into a summer of weekly activity including beach days, pool days and park days. Children also get a chance to experience travel via field trips to popular attractions like Knott's Berry Farm, Legoland, county fairs and water-themed parks. Summer Quest runs for the entire summer, spanning from June 24 to Aug. 23. Campers typically range in age from Kindergarten to 8th grade and parents can register their children through the Summer Quest application at the school's website.

To keep children out of a sedentary rut this summer, the Evolution Sports Camp aims to get kids fit by engaging them in exciting and challenging sports-filled activities. Through its variety of programs based on a sports rotation module, the summer day camp offers children ages five to 12 adventurous and exhilarating sports-themed programs that place an emphasis on learning skills in basketball, soccer, volleyball, archery, open swim and field sports. The camp provides full day and half-day camp sessions for parents to choose from. Operating out of three bases in Orange County, Laguna Hills, Landera Ranch and San Juan Capistrano, parents also have the option of choosing their location of preference. Accredited by the American Camp Association, Camp James Summer Camp is a traditional day camp for children ages 4 to 13 looking to spend their summer months partaking in a varied range of outdoor friendly activities. The camp, which has been around for 28 years, is a unique in that it allows campers to schedule their day based on a selection of programs most suitable to their personal interests and goals. With well over 20 selections to choose from, campers can pick activity classes within 45 minute intervals from the following: arts & craft, miniature golf, dance, hiking, swimming, martial arts, rock climbing, nature lore, archery, dance, boating and plenty more. The camp runs from June 23 to Aug. 29 and parents are asked to register their children online. Parents can also speak with a representative in person at one of the many open house sessions.

For fashion darlings ages eight and up who yearn for a creative outlet to express themselves while soaking up some fun and sun in Orange County, Fashion Camp OC is the place to be this summer. With two prime locations in Tustin and Mission Viejo, Orange County residents have more than one option to send their children for an early glimpse into the exciting world of fashion. Campers can join other mini fashionistas for a rewarding experience that features a full day of sewing, sketching, draping, creating and designing. Summer camp begins June 7 and parents can register online at the camp's website.

With multiple locations throughout Orange County, the YMCA of Orange County offers the ultimate summer camp experience for youth ages five to 17. From June 23 to Aug. 29, campers will enjoy the YMCA complete summer care package that provides a full day of enriching activities such as Cooking with Attitude, Game Show Mania, Sports Club, Scrapbooking Club, Keeping Fit and H2O-mazing.
