With 18 acres of beautiful scenic backdrops perfect for photography, Polliwog Park is considered the largest park in South Bay. In the center of the park lies a large pond surrounded by rolling hills of green and an adjacent wildlife refuge for migratory birds. The best picnic spots in the park include three gazebos, one of which is located near the park’s Rose Garden, another good spot for picnics. The best part about this park is the nine-hole disc golf course that runs throughout the park without interference of the park’s walking paths and play areas. Polliwog Park can be found at the corner of Redondo Avenue and Manhattan Beach Boulevard.

Beverly Hills, CA 90210
Whether you’re a local resident or an out-of-town visitor, Beverly Gardens Park is another good picnic spot in Los Angeles with a beautiful landscape. This 1.9-mile linear park is home to the Beverly Hills sign, which has become a frequently photographed hotspot in Los Angeles. Beverly Gardens Park also features a rose and cactus garden, a water fountain and a decomposed granite path for walkers and joggers. The park is hardly busy at all, making it an ideal spot for a relaxing picnic lunch with fairly easy-to-find metered parking. Beverly Gardens Park can be found on Santa Monica Boulevard between Palm and Wilshire Boulevards.
Los Encinos Historic State Park
16756 Moorpark St.
Los Angeles, CA 91436
This quaint little park used to be home to an Indian tribe before it became a hidden valley gem a block behind a usually busy street. What makes Los Encinos Historic Park so unique, aside from its historical past, is the natural spring that feeds the duck pond found at the center of the park. The park includes a handful of picnic tables complete with grills located throughout the park surrounding the open five-acre field of well-manicured lawn. The tranquil environment of the park as a whole makes it a local favorite for intimate picnics with friends, family and loved ones. Located within a residential neighborhood, Los Encinos Historic Park is so low key that it feels like you’re picnicking in someone’s backyard.

Santa Monica, CA 90401
Tongva Park is among the newest parks to hit the picnic scene. It used to be a parking lot before the city transformed it into an urban oasis with a robust topographical landscape. “Tongva Park is perfect for a picnic with the whole family, as kids can explore, go rock climbing or use the playground, or as a romantic rendezvous with beautiful views of the Pacific Ocean,” says a rep for Shore Hotel, which recently provided guests with local goodie baskets in honor of National Picnic Day. This picnic spot has plenty of bench seating and picnic tables in addition to plenty of grassy spots for laying out on a blanket. Tongva Park is dog-friendly and can be found between Ocean Avenue and Main Street south of Colorado Avenue.
31740 Mulholland Highway
Malibu, CA 90265
For a relaxing day filled with plenty of wine and a nice picnic accompanied by live music, Malibu Wines is the best spot for a picnic in Los Angeles. The winery offers tastings, bottles and plenty of picnic tables, but it doesn’t serve any food so packing a picnic is an absolute must if you plan on indulging in wine all day long. You can find solace in the grass or simply grab an available table. While buying wine or participating in a tasting is not required, it’s generally recommended to purchase at least one bottle per table occupied. The best part about Malibu Wines is the live music featured every weekend.
