The Getty, home to thousands of masterpieces, offers many workshops, classes and lectures throughout the year. Sketching classes include opportunities to sketch actual priceless paintings and sculptures in the museum. Some classes focus more on one particular aspect of a subject like the position of hands, the logic of light and proportion. What's even better is that these classes are free. While The Wizard of Art's classes are open to all skill levels and ages, the kids seem to love this place the most, and so do their parents. In fact, these are drawing classes the whole family can take. Everyone starts out as a beginner with charcoal pencils and pastels. From there, a student progresses to watercolors, acrylics and oils. Everyone goes at their own pace, and each class has a maximum of 11 students with two teachers present so everyone can get one-on-one instruction. Offering daily classes which last an hour, on Saturdays classes are even longer at one and a half hours. In addition there are summer workshops that offer multiple family member discounts.
