If you're looking to continue your New Years celebration, then SOL is a good place to try - especially with its selection of tequilas and excellent wine list. At SOL, you'll also get a Baja-style meal that will help get your new year off to a good start. Brunch favorites include a large selection of Heuvos dishes such as their Chorizo & Potato Scramble or Brakfast 'Changa which comes with scrambled eggs, cheese, bacon, serrano chiles, cream cheese and onions, all in a rolled up flour tortilla.

If you want to start 2014 with a fine dining experience and no kids around, the Ritz-Carlton is the place. Brunch in the Pavilion's dining room provides amazing food and champagne. However, probably the best part of this experience is that you get to enjoy the fine food and drinks with an unbeatable view of the Pacific Ocean. Brunch at the Ritz-Carlton may be pricier than other restaurants, but you'll find it's money well spent.

If your goal is to just have brunch without having to get dressed up, The Alley is the place to go. The Alley offers great food and champagne at prices that won't make you feel like you need to take out a loan just because you want brunch. You can keep the champagne coming for just an additional $10 on your bill, and that is reason enough to head to this Newport Beach staple to begin your new year. The Alley offers brunch specialties such as their classic with three eggs, bacon, sausage and cheesy potatoes or create your own burrito, quesadilla or omelet. Plus, after getting your fill, you can take a stroll and take in some of the sights in Newport Beach.

Costa Mesa, CA 92627

Technically, Plums Cafe doesn't offer brunch on New Year's Day, but the list of places open in Orange County on the first day of the year is a pretty short one. Besides, you won't complain that it's not technically brunch because of all the delicious items you can get here. This place has great coffee, which might come in pretty handy if you had a little too much to drink on New Year's Eve. Plums also has some amazing chocolate banana waffles that will make you drop to your knees and thank whomever invented breakfast.
