When it comes to pastries, everyone has a favorite that hits the spot. From pies to baklava, cakes and everything else, LA offers up a myriad of options that can sometimes be overwhelming to choose from. Simplethings might not be a pastry shop in the traditional sense of the word, but trust us, they do it better than most out there. Offering fresh baked pies in flavors like salted caramel, banana cream, key-lime, mud pie, peach, pumpkin streuse, cocount cream, blueberry and many others, the pies here are baked fresh everyday from scratch. The salted caramel is among one of the favorites for diners, as is the pumpkin whoopie pie.

Opened by Jane Lockhart, the bakery offers everything from triple berry shortcakes, baked goods, wedding cakes, classic tarts, pies, and of course much more. What makes this bakery so much better than the rest? Of course the recipe's are a secret, but not only do the pastries, cakes and pies look amazing, the taste is just a step above. Sweet Lady Jane offers seasonal favorites like their pumpkin and raspberry cheesecakes, cherry and apple pies, as well as classic tarts ranging from chocolate pecan to lemon meringue and a myriad of tasty cake options.

With its location in Santa Monica, Huckleberry Cafe can best be described by its abundance of delicious and mouth watering pastries. Learning to bake his delicious confections at Tartine Bakery in San Francisco, Joe's in Venice and other spots, Zoe Nathan eventually took her knowledge and created a menu at Huckleberry that has kept patrons coming back for more over the years. Offering everything from ginger cookies, zucchini teacakes, maple-bacon biscuts and croissants to scones, crostata's, tarte's, and much more, the selection here is almost endless.
