Formerly known as Lake Balboa Park, the Balboa name will never really go away for at the heart and center of this recreational facility is Lake Balboa itself. The 27-acre man-made lake is surrounded by a good stretch of jogging paths that offer a good scenic route lit by cherry blossoms (when in season) rather than traffic lights. The park is so big that there are multiple paths to walk your dog ranging from one to five miles. Be sure to keep your dog on a leash so it doesn't go jumping in the lake or go crazy chasing after ducks.

Elysian Park may be the oldest park in the city, but it's also one of the most divinely picturesque places to walk your dog. Located at the end of the Santa Monica Mountains lies a beautiful park with a walking path the circles the park and plenty of running space for dogs spanning the size of a football field. The best thing about Serrania Park is its location amid a quiet neighborhood, making the park itself a nice little sanctuary from the usual hustle and bustle of city life. Make sure you keep your dog on a leash because owners have been known to get cited for off-leash dogs.

Long before it was a public park, Corriganville was a former movie ranch before it became a western theme park where visitors could experience a real movie set. At one point in time, it was even known as Hopetown when it was owned by comedian Bob Hope. In 1988, it was purchased by the City of Simi Valley and soon turned into a regional park where you can read descriptions of filming locations along the walking trail that circles around the park. It's also very dog-friendly with doggie bags placed at the beginning of the trail.
