Another full week hits the Orange County scene with something for just about everyone to enjoy. From up-and-coming rap artists taking to local stages, to fresh-from-Broadway live theater, to internationally-acclaimed Chinese artists to a weekend of surf, sand, and stand up paddling, don't miss the exciting fun offered this week in the OC. History fans should be sure to visit UC Irvine for their sobering look back at the ten-year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, and they also can't miss the live, streaming presentation of the canonization of Father Junipero Serra, taking place simultaneously at the Vatican's mass and the Mission San Juan Capistrano.

One of the biggest rap breakouts for 2015, Fetty Wap heads to the OC for a one-night-only event at The Observatory in Santa Ana. The intimate venue provides an excellent atmosphere for concert goers; fans can expect to hear "Trap Queen," his wildly popular hit, as well as "My Way," "679," and other current chart toppers performed live on stage with intense energy.

"BLOOD IN THE WATER: A Katrina Remembrance," presents a collection of the work of photojournalist Jon Hughes as he chronicled the devastation of the Mississippi Gulf Coast just after Hurricane Katrina, which took place 10 years ago. Dr. Jonathan Alexander, UCI Professor of English presents the work in the Student Center Viewpoint Gallery through October 9. Alexander, a New Orleans native, has written extensively about the effects and reflections of the catastrophic event.

Pope Francis will recognize Mission San Juan Capistrano's Father Serra as Saint Serra for the first time today; the canonization event will be live streamed from the Vatican with first come, first served seating available with general admission to the Mission. A weeklong celebration of Father Serra, including the unveiling of the new Legacy of Saint Serra Exhibit, takes place this week featuring special Father Serra and Chapel Tours, and much more. Saint Junipero Serra served as the Father President of the Alta California Mission for 15 years; he established nine missions in the California system.

The first show of the 2015-2016 La Mirada Theater season hits the stage as Erica Lustig and Marc Ginsburg star in the La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts/McCoy Rigby Entertainment Southern California Premiere Production of the Broadway Musical "FIRST DATE," directed by Nick DeGruccio. The play follows blind date newbie, Aaron, who is set up with serial-dater Casey; as their date unfolds in real time, the plot involves unexpected twists and turns that will keep the audience involved with every sip.

The newly branded US Open of Stand Up Paddling hits the Huntington Beach waters this weekend with a week-long lineup of paddling and surfing events. Running through October 4th, daily events include the Waterman Invitational, including shortboard, longboard, and the expected SUP events, running Saturday through Sunday this weekend. A variety of family-friendly events and activities will be offered on shore during the event taking place next to the Huntington Beach Pier. The entire event is free to the public.
