Step into 1890s London and immerse yourself in the history of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and his most famous character, Sherlock Holmes. Featuring original manuscripts, artifacts, and investigation tools, you'll be taken through various stations like Doyle's study, Baker Street Underground Station (get your photo taken 1895 style!), and Holmes' and Watson's sitting-room. Use your detective's notebook and clues throughout the interactive exhibits to help solve a mysterious crime. Runs through September 7th.

The 1960s are back as Motown the Musical hits the stage. Featuring over 40 classic hits like "My Girl" and "Ain't No Mountain High Enough," this hit production is the true American dream story of Motown founder Berry Gordy. It tells the history of how he became a music mogul who launched the careers of some of motown music's most famous artists. Diana Ross, Michael Jackson, Smokey Robinson, and the whole Motown family fight against the odds to help create the soundtrack of change in America. The show opens today and runs through June 28.

This is the last week to see La Mirada Theater for the Performing Arts' production of Mary Poppins.
This book turned Disney movie turned stage show tells the story of young and mischievous Jane and Michael, who haven't had much luck keeping a nanny around until Mary Poppins blows into town. Using a little magic, common sense, and the world's deepest purse, she helps bring the dysfunctional Banks family together. With seven Tony Award nominations under its belt, this supercalifragilisticexpialidocious musical is sure to captivate both young and old.

It's a Flashback Friday film night as Movie on the Lawn presents Hoosiers - the classic story of a coach trying to lead his underdog basketball team to a state championship. Watch the boys "run the picket fence" on a giant outdoor screen under the stars. Pack a picnic or grab some grub available at one of the food trucks or snack bar at the event. The evening starts at 8pm and is free to the public.

Make a short trek up the coast to Long Beach this weekend to enjoy this 2-day family festival celebrating New Orleans and Louisiana Bayou Country. Feast on Cajun and Creole cuisine, get down with Zac Harmon and other musical acts, and take in the sights and sounds of the New Orleans Traditional Jazz Band led Mardi Gras parade. The annual watermelon and crawfish eating contest return, as does the Kids' Corner packed with children's activities like costume making, arts and crafts, sing-a-longs, and games. Gates open at 11:00am, and the festival runs Saturday until 9:00pm and Sunday until 8pm.

At this year's Chili at the Beach Chili Cook Off & Salsa Tasting Contest, dads can enjoy not only an array of chili samples, but also products and activities geared toward men's interests, including gifts for dad. Two stages with musical acts and roving street performers will provide entertainment for the crowd, along with children's activities and games to keep the little ones busy between bites. Attendance is free, with unlimited chili and salsa tasting tickets at $10 online ($15 at the event). Proceeds benefit the Boys and Girls Club of Huntington Beach.
