It's beginning to look a lot like Halloween in Los Angeles, but there's still plenty to do that doesn't involve monsters, ghouls, or pumpkin carving. From a classic car design event to a Diwali celebration, circus-themed musical and actual circus, and even a class to boost your wine IQ, here's what you're doing this week, L.A..

Dominick's Restaurant in West Hollywood is hoping to take the apprehension out of wine. Their "Made in Piedmont" wine class, offered tonight at 6:30pm, is open to wine enthusiasts of all skills and knowledge bases. Hosted by Susan Brink O'Flaherty, the wine class will feature four wine tastings (all Piedmont-based wines), light fare, and plenty of knowledge and information that will have you talking like a sommelier in no time.

Head to the Hollywood Pantages for a three-week run of the all-new production of Roger O. Hirson and Stephen Schwartz's Tony-Award winning PIPPIN, opening tonight. Sasha Allen stars as Leading Player, Kyle Selig as Pippin, and Tony Award winner John Rubinstein, who created the role of "Pippin" in the 1972 original Broadway production, will be playing Charles. The astounding circus creation is by Gypsy Snider of the Montreal-based circus company Les 7 doigts de la main, also known as 7 Fingers.

This week marks the start of Diwali, the Indian Festival of Lights. Shakespeare's timeless tale of jealousy, power, disinformation, deceit, and ambition will be brought to modern life tonight at the Odyssey Theatre where "Othello," under the direction of John Perrin Flynn. The two month run stars A Martinez, from A&E's "Longmire," in the title role, while Jack Stehlin, from "Weeds," portrays Iago, one of the greatest villains of all time.
