Living in LA is expensive. Between rent, cost of food and gas prices, there’s little money left over for other things like mani-pedis and haircuts. But personal maintenance shouldn’t have to be sacrificed to make ends meet. There are quite a few reputable low-cost salons and spas in Los Angeles that don’t cost an entire week’s salary just to walk in the door. However, finding an inexpensive salon that doesn’t leave you with a cheap looking do is risky unless you go to one of these five Los Angeles salons.
571 1/2 S Fairfax Ave
Los Angeles, CA 90036
Looking for killer color or simply a great cut? The women at the Hair Team, Pia and Dalia, are straightforward and know their stuff. Tell them what you want and allow for a little professional creativity and you’ll get a do you’ll love. Dalia is your gal for color and Pia does magic with scissors. They have assistants that flitter about and help move things along. For first-time customers, the Hair Team offers a Yelp deal of $25 for $45 of services. You can’t beat it.
Abba Hair & Nail Salon

The salon also offers a bevy of other services including waxing for lips, face, arms, legs, and underarms, as well as cutting such as bridal up-do’s, coloring, permanent hair color and more.
Jun Encarnacion International Beauty Salon
4329 W Sunset Blvd
Los Angeles, CA 90029
The Jun Encarnacion International Beauty Salon may be on Sunset Boulevard, but you won’t pay the borderline extortionist Sunset Boulevard prices here. Known for their attention to detail and top notch cuts and colors, this mom-and-daughter team is not as inexpensive as some other salons but they are far lower than most. Cuts for men are $20 and women start at $30, depending on length. Colors start at $95 and there is a “special event” hair and airbrush makeup combo for $110. Jun Encarnacion also offers a 10-percent discount for first-time customers, when you refer a friend or when you come in on your birthday.
Mon Petit Beauty Salon
1514 Westwood Blvd
Los Angeles, CA 90024
Want a $20 haircut that doesn’t look like a $20 haircut? Mon Petit Beauty Salon will have you looking like a million bucks and not drain your bank account. What’s even better is that Sahra (pronounced Sahara) is quick, too. She’s the one and only hairdresser at Mon Petit so she doesn’t dally or take long breaks while you’re in the chair. You’re in and out in 30 minutes with a hug on your way out the door. Mon Petit will definitely make you look and feel great. It’s cash only.
Kim Mai Hair Salon
