It's that time of year again. Halloween is soon approaching with kids and families making plans for purchasing their favorite seasonal costume to wear out on trick or treat rounds. Dressing up in costumes and visiting neighbors to request candy treats is among the traditional activities that families love to enjoy in group settings. There are a variety of themed stage events and festivals in the works complete with decorations, candy, music and more that add to the options to choose from when it comes to spooktacular celebrations. Here are a few exciting public events that are sure to provide the festive atmosphere and unique, creative activities for kids and families to enjoy Halloween in a colorful fashion in the decor of the season.

Universal Studios has amped up its annual Halloween event, Halloween Horror Nights, by making it scarier than past years which is pretty hard to do! Featuring more surprises more screams, newly themed mazes based on cult films and smash hit TV shows, and more, you'll can be sure you'll be pretty scared by the end of the evening. Take a "Terror Tram" ride and get overrun by zombies, or pick a maze and get ambushed by aliens, zombies or werewolves. The choice is yours. Times, tickets and packages are available online.

The Annual Halloween at the Roosevelt is a few days earlier since Halloween falls on a Monday this year. Come celebrate at this property-wide Halloween gala that should not to be missed. Get your monster groove on with close to 3,000 of Hollywood's sexiest and elite party people. Halloween at the Roosevelt will feature DJ's, and a live performance by Big Sean, as well as other special performances throughout the night. Ticket and VIP packages are available online. The evening begins at 8pm and ends at 2am. The party will cover over 40,000 square feet of the property and is the place to be for Halloween.

Looking for something different to do this Halloween? Check out two Halloween-themed nights of the Vampire "Lucha Vavoom" at The Mayan. This year, the theme is "Halloween Madness," where you'll get to experience a surreal Halloween celebration of epic proportions and a costume party. At "Lucha Vavoom," you'll witness zombie chickens running around; trapeze artists The Wau Wau sisters; Hula Hoop champion Marawa Wamp; a "Pinatita" with a surprise; lots of tequila and let's not forget the intermission show and all the body slamming and chaos that is "Lucha Vavoom." On Halloween evening, experience 'Horror In The Hall: Halloween Organ With Film: The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari." Organ expert Clark Wilson will improvise an appropriately an incredible sound track on Walt Disney Concert Hall's magnificent pipe organ for this incredible 1920 silent film. The film, one of the earliest, is the most influential and artistically acclaimed films in the German Expressionist genre and is directed by Robert Wiene.
