Best Free Tours In OC

If you are looking to experience the best that Orange County has to offer, you can so at no cost. Explore the art walks that provide you with the opportunity to discover art, sculptures, jewelry and up-and-coming artists in the Orange County scene. Landmarks like the Angels Stadium also offers a rare opportunity with tours. Take a look at these five different touring options to explore Orange County and save money.

On the first Saturday of every month, the Bolsa Chica Conservancy hosts a free tour with an on-site presentation. At the south lot of the Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve, the docents gather and are stationed near the footbridge. The tours are on a first-come, first-served basis and begin every 15 minutes between 9am to 10:30am. There are five areas that are covered in the tour including the history, birds, ecology, endangered species and restoration. The area is over 1,400 acres of undeveloped wetlands, lowlands and lower mesa. On the last Saturday of the month, there is a free bird talk and nature walk starting at 9am. This place is a prime location for a wide variety of birds in Southern California.

Take a stroll on the first Saturday of every month in the art district of Santa Ana from 7pm to 10pm. The event is free and gives access to those participating to buy original artwork from Southern California artists that are new, fresh, edgy and up-and-coming talent. The Santa Ana Artist Village incorporates art from local schools. Some of the venues on the walk will include the Orange County Center for Contemporary Art, Santora Arts Building as well as up-and-coming galleries and studios.

Starting April 2014, the stadium tours will reopen after closing down for improvements. The stadium has been the home to the Angels since its move from Los Angeles in 1965. Although not free for everyone, these tours are extremely affordable. Tours are free for children under the age of three and $5 for seniors, students and children from the ages of three to 18. It is $7 for adults. During the in-season schedule, tours take place on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays when the Angels are out of town. Tickets sell out quickly and reservations are highly recommended if wanting to take part in touring the stadium. The tour typically includes meeting at the home plate between the two red hats and lasts about an hour and 15 minutes.

The Huntington Beach Art Walk self-guided tour includes 30-50 artists all along the Main Street to 5th Street from 6pm to 9pm The event is held on the third Thursday of every month and is scheduled to take place until September 18. Artists are welcome to participate in the event for free as long as they register prior to the event and are accepted. Past art walks included live music, food and performing artists.

This free event will be enjoyed by the whole family with its interactive hands-on experiences. The activities bring the whole family together through different themes set for each month. Saturday events are held at the ExplorOcean Galleries from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. and Sunday at the Back Bay Science Center from 10am to 2pm The quick and engaging activities will get the children to solve problems and think like scientists.
