The local music scene in Southern California is thriving, and during the summer it can be a costly pastime to keep up with all of the great acts that come to the OC scene. Orange County can be one of the more expensive locations for everyday living, so grab your blankets and your lawn chairs and take a break from adding to your expenses to check out these local concerts that don’t cost you a penny.

Summer Concert in the Park

Every Wednesday. the City Hall of Brea hosts a free concert in the park event in the summer months at the outdoor gazebo stage. Each week will feature a different musical genre where the audience enjoy and also picnic on the lawn during the performances as well as music that will include The Symphonic Winds of the Pacific, The Fenians, The Doo-Wah Riders, House Party, Chico, Sligo Rags and Swing Cats. There is an area that offers sandwiches, drinks and snacks during the event and all proceeds will go to support the series.

The outdoor concert series for Dana Point locals is back for the summer months and held at three different locations including Heritage Park (34400 Old Golden Lantern), Lantern Bay Park (25111 Park Lantern Road) and Sea Terrace (PCH & Niguel Road). Different bands will be featured each week including the Sam Morrison Band and Fabulous Ultra Tones, as well as a few great tribute bands and many more. With a terrific line up, its the perfect time to grab your blanket and lawn chairs and enjoy the summer concert series. Refreshments are available for purchase as well with proceeds going to local non-profit organizations. The concert series draws locals and those from other surrounding areas as well.

The beautiful lake setting of the Woodbridge Community Park is a great location for summer concerts for the whole family. This free event, which encourages attendees to bring their lawn chairs and picnic baskets, is a terrific concert series where you’ll really enjoy the gourmet food trucks that are onsite. Held every Sunday, the event brings in all types of music for the public to enjoy for four weekends in July and August. Featured bands include Sensation Showband, Springsteen: The Premier Tribute to The Boss, Stone Soul and The Kelly Rae Band.

The summer concert series in Newport Beach continues again this year thanks to the City Arts Commission at the Newport Beach Civic Center where the public is encouraged to come early and bring lawn chairs and blankets to enjoy the musical selections every Sunday. Performances to expect include Southland Sings and the premiere Eagles tribute band Desperado to close out the series.
