Regardless of the nature of your job, working from home is the ideal for most of us. Roll out of bed, shower if you feel like it, saddle up to your computer in your pajamas with a cup of joe at your side and you're ready to start your work day. While that can be great, sometimes you need a change of scenery to break up the monotony of it. So grab your laptop and head to a coffee shop. But LA is percolating with coffee shops and picking the wrong one could be a mismanagement of your productivity time. If you don't already have a favorite go-to spot, or are looking for something new, check out these top five coffee shops to work from in the Los Angeles area.

Balconi Coffee Company

Los Angeles, CA 90064

When looking for a coffee shop off the beaten java path, Balconi Coffee Company is worth checking out. Quaint with a nod to late 60s decor, Balconi offers boutique coffee difficult to find done well. You'll understand why the almond essence and green tea lattes are customer favorites after only one sip. The only downside to this gem is no wifi.

Paradocs Coffee and Tea
1032 S. Fairfax Ave.
Los Angeles, CA 90019
(323) 965-2158

With a hodge-podge of chairs and tables, you'll think you're sipping Joe in your grandmother's sitting room rather than at Paradocs Coffee and Tea. But that's the beauty of it. Comfy and familiar is sometimes the best work or study environment when working "from home." Free wifi, tasty pastries, a matcha tea to die for and one hell of a mean latte will have you coming back for more.

Iced coffees and teas that come in a carafe? It must be Brew/Wells in Korea town. The decor is a little reminiscent of mom's kitchen table or a teacher's lounge, which only helps to keep you productive. Floor-to-ceiling windows make for great people watching inspiration or welcomed distractions when your eye starts to twitch. But you'll easily motor through your workload with an affogato, toasted lavender cappuccino or customer fave - the cold brew.

Demitasse
135 S. San Pedro St.
Los Angeles, CA 90012
(213) 613-9300

Demitasse is the quintessential example of a "work from home" coffee shop. Modern chic with clean lines, relaxed atmosphere, free wifi and outdoor seating will easily make this your office away from, well, the office. The orange thyme latte, salted rosemary maple latte and iced coffee that tastes like brandy are the must tries. The brewing process makes the baristas look more like alchemists; and the Kyoto iced coffee is a must try for the visual alone.

Bourgeois Pig
5931 Franklin Ave.
Los Angeles, CA 90028
(323) 464-6008
www.bourgeoispig.menutoeat.com

Located at the base of the Hollywood Hills is the neighborhood's favorite java shop, the Bourgeois Pig. Writers, musicians and regular people with laptops attached to their hips love this place for its character. Established in the 90s and probably not revamped since, this place offers inspiration at every turn. From the house music, to the local artistry on the walls, to the lumpy sofas that would have incredible stories to tell if they could talk, to the people who drift in off the street patronizing this place - you will never have the same experience twice.
