A few days away from work is always better when you have a few things in the works in terms of how you plant to spend that time. Another boring weekend in the house just doesn't have the same rejuvenating quality that a productive, proactive weekend does. Having said that, here is a nice little reference list of what is happening in the OC this weekend.

Ultimately good tunes are good tunes, but when it comes to tribute bands, it's always nice to see an act that takes on the catalog of a band that you just can't see anymore. Taking on the nearly impossible task of the timeless Freddie Mercury, Queen Nation is about as sincere a tribute performance as any to one of rock music's most revered contributors. Coupling precise musicianship with the kind of stage presence befitting a Queen show, the guys of the Nation inject an energy into the songs that are brilliantly close to the real thing. A Friday night at the rock show is a great way to kick off a memorable weekend and this show is an undeniable win.

Galvanizing the community after recent tragic events, the organizers of Orange County's installment of the Pride Festival have seen tremendous growth since the 2009 reformation of the organization. In 2009, attendance was estimated at 500 people. For 2016, OC Pride is fortified with a entertainment mainstage, a grand parade, a full week of events around Orange County leading up to the Saturday extravaganza. Expecting thousands of partygoers to descend upon Downtown Santa Ana at the Yost Theater, Pride is a party with a purpose bridging the community together through music, art, and celebration.
