There are few experiences like that of the drive-in movie theater and the Vineland Drive-In Theater is one of Southern California's very last places to pull in and park to enjoy the pictureshow. The format is so old, that for the younger generation, the experience is a whole new way to enjoy a flick. Showing the same double features and boasting the in-car audio older folks remember, this drive-in is a brilliant piece of nostalgia that makes for a perfect weekend evening. While the big news in Southern California sports is the introduction of the Rams football team for the upcoming season, LA has been a passionate hub for traditional football with its MLS Galaxy squad. This weekend the club hosts the Colorado Rapids in a league showdown that promises to be fast-paced and feverish. Celebrating its 29th year, the Long Beach Jazz Festival is the perfect marriage of music and ambiance as artists ranging from traditional Jazz to R&B serenade the crowd for three days along the lagoon. We have all attempted to make our own masterpiece in the sand, but few people could ever transform sand into art like this. The Great Sand Sculpture contest aims to find the most impressive structure on the shore. Dividing the competition into three different, equitable categories, the pro, semi-pro, and community teams all battle it out for the title of best in show. Over the course of two days, these teams build their vision along the shore and visitors get their chance to watch the magic develop each step of the way. Between the building and shaving, organizers have lined up live music and activities to tide over spectators until he big unveil. This is the best way to spend your Sunday with your toes in the sand and your jaw on the floor.
