Among Southern California piers, Seal Beach is just as picturesque as any, but has the kind of small town charm we hope is never ruined by big business and big crowds. Main Street is lined with plenty of locally driven cafes, boutiques, and shops that are perfect for browsing during an afternoon stroll. If you aren't looking to get wet, you can admire the waves from above on the boardwalk while snapping that essential California coast photo. You can hit the sand for some volleyball or just spend your time on a bench watching the world go by on a lovely coastal breeze.

The marriage of surfing culture and the music festival is the basis of the Ohana Festival. In fact, the Doheny State Beach concert is a party with a purpose. A portion of the proceeds go to the San Onofre State Parks Foundation that ensure the beauty of places like this state beach always stay pristine. The two-day festival is sold out for good reason as the stages will be brimming with the kind of talent that can best be described as iconic. Eddie Vedder, Elvis Costello, and others meet the new school appeal of sensations like Lana Del Rey, Band of Horses, and City and Colour. Naturally the festival will feature a craft beer and wine garden and load of local food options of the artisan caliber. There aren't many opportunities to catch a historic concert in the sand at Doheny.
