The holiday season is in the air with decorated Christmas trees, lights and sleighs being set up in shopping malls and select city streets throughout the city of Los Angeles. In addition to shopping sprees, the holidays would not be complete without attending a live Christmas production that sets the festive mood of the season beginning in our imaginations. Musicals, dance presentations and theater plays are in rehearsals throughout the city of Los Angeles, complete with costumes, musical ensembles and actors from across generations gathering to create spectacular shows to experience and enjoy. The Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts is scheduled to host the anticipated musical theater production featuring Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Santa and his sleigh full of toys. The musical is based in format upon the popular classic television special which first aired in the year of 1964. The performance will feature a solid cast of actors in colorful costumes performing songs, music, dance choreography and more. The musical features main characters including Rudolph, Clarice and the Misfit Toys with performances of holiday classic songs like "Jingle, Jingle, Jingle" and "Holly Jolly Christmas."

Sandy Hacket's Rat Pack Christmas takes place on Dec. 5 live at the Fred Kavli Theater. The production will recreate the golden era of jazz and swing with the music of the legendary Rat Pack. The jazz and holiday classics of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Joey Bishop and Sammy Davis Jr. are featured and presented by a cast of characters who recreate each member of the Rat Pack in tuxedos and style. The musical theater presentation will feature holiday songs including "Jingle Bells," "Let it Snow" and "Winter Wonderland." The show will open with a comedy presentation by comedian, Sandy Hacket, the son of legendary comedian Buddy Hacket.

The Thousand Oaks Repertory Company will host this year's full production of Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol." The live theatrical presentation will tell the story of Ebeneezer Scrooge and his discovery of the true meaning of Christmas, brought to life by a full cast of characters in a full stage performance for families to enjoy.
