The city is such a melting pot of people and ideas that if you want to see the same thing twice, you can, but you would never have to. Music, art, entertainment, nightlife, sports, nature, it would be impossible to detail just how inclusive the amenities of the city are, but we can attempt to give you an idea with a snapshot. Here is a rundown of some of the more noteworthy happenings that would certainly make your weekend worthwhile.

Developed by the same Hettema Group responsible for the interactive awe in attractions like One World Observatory at the World Trade Center, Las Vegas' High Roller, and Universal Studios Islands of Adventure and Jurassic Park The Ride, Union Station will tout an impressive 30-foot high video installation spanning it's historic entry arches. The intuitive video will actually respond to movements as guests cruise the garden under the hue of the Floating Sky Screen set to an original score. The installation runs through July 24th and is not to be missed.

The latest production from the traveling entertainment institution that is Ringling Brothers makes its world debut this weekend at Staples Center. Running with an interplanetary theme, clowns, flying trapeze, contortionists, and even a pot bellied pig showcase their unique talents… on ice. That's right, Out of the World has the distinction of being a circus on ice. Complete with the high-octane thrills of seven motorcycles speeding through the globe of death, the comedic relief juggling clowns suspended upside-down on the roof of the arena, and an original score performed live, the tagline of Great Show on Earth is on full display.

For Southern Californians in particular, the flea market or swap meet on a Sunday is just a no-brainer. Wondering aimlessly up and down the aisles, scoring something to snack on during the stroll, and enjoying the sun makes for a great weekend bookend. Smorgasburg LA is the latest addition to the open air market and is lined with a collection of vendors showcasing artisan wares in design, craft, style, vintage, wellness, and most importantly, FOOD. This weekend especially, Smorgasburg LA will be celebrating National Ice Cream Day with an Ice Cream Bonanza featuring the creamy goods from the likes of Salt & Straw, Sweet Rose Creamery, and Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams. Running from 10am to 6pm, visitors will have plenty of time to roam and walk off the first serving to ensure a second scoop feels less sinful.

Venice Beach Boardwalk
Ocean Front Walk
Venice Beach, CA. 90291

In the way of essential Los Angeles experiences, it is unimaginable that people calling this place home have yet to spend an afternoon down on the iconic boardwalk of Venice Beach. From the spectacle of hardbodies at Muscle Beach, to the old timers sweating it out at the handball courts, to the sea of eclectic humanity that floods the footprint everyday, there may not be a better place in Los Angeles to get your fill of people watching. Keep in mind, we have yet to mention the waves or sand. With plenty of places to grab a bite, volleyball courts, tattoo shops, souvenir shops, the boardwalk is the kind of place where doing nothing will still amount to a productive day.
