It's not easy to get kids to eat healthy, well-rounded meals. One way to get them interested in good food is to teach them how to make it themselves. Here is a list of some of the best children's cooking classes in Los Angeles

Kids who take a Piccolo Chef cooking class will not only learn skills to get around the kitchen, but the importance of eating seasonal fruits and vegetables. Kids will learn how to make everything from a Farm Fresh Apple Crisp to Veggie Crepes. Many classes are taught in the test kitchen at Surfas Restaurant Supply and Gourmet Food (http://www.surfaslosangeles.com/) in Culver City, including one that starts this week for kids with special needs.

Chef's Inc. offers cooking classes for couples (romantic), groups (fun), adults (functional) and kids (spooky). I say spooky because the October children's class is a Halloween party on October 24 where kids will learn to make Edible Eyeballs and Witches' Finger Cookies. They have classes all year and camps in the summer.

There are Whole Foods all over Los Angeles that hold cooking classes for kids. This month each store is having a Kids' Healthy Meetup where kids will learn how to prepare nutritious meals and participate in fun activities. The Venice store is also hosting an upcoming class taught by Piccolo Chef.

This one rocks because it will come to you anywhere in Los Angeles. Kitchen Kid can entertain at a birthday party by teaching children how to make a 3-course meal or teach a group of friends how to make healthy cooking choices. They also have enrichment classes for schools and Boy Scout troops. It's not just for the little ones. Kitchen Kid offers a class for the entire family where they can learn to make delicious meals.

ArtBites

(310) 396-4648
More Info

ArtBites can also come to you if you have a group of 6 kids or more. This fabulous class is designed to teach kids about more than just how to make a meal. Chef Maite Gomez-Rejon focuses on a work of art and then teaches kids how to make a dish inspired by it. Families can also enjoy the culinary and intellectual feast by taking a Family Capers class. The group picks a book and Gomez-Rejon creates a meal based on the theme.
