Just in time for back to school, the new Dinosaur Hall has opened at the Natural History Museum in Los Angeles. This 14,000 square foot Hall is a dynamic and exciting exploration into the ongoing discovery of dinosaur fossils.
T-Rex Growth Series
The Dinosaur Hall is proud to introduce the Tyrannosaurus Rex growth series. The T-Rex growth series is the only series of its kind in the world and consists of a baby, juvenile and sub-adult T-Rex. The baby T-Rex at NHM is the youngest known T-Rex fossil in the world.
Get Up Close
The Dinosaur Hall is made up of two naturally lit, colorful and conjoining two story rooms that were specially designed to bring the dinosaurs closer to the spectators than ever before. Without glass and many barriers, spectators are able to walk underneath a dinosaur's neck and a T-rex skull for an up close and personal experience with real dinosaur fossils.

The Dinosaur Hall was designed for a hands on, multi-layered learning experience. The Natural History Museum made knowledge accessible to all age groups, readers and non readers alike. With bright colored displays and interesting artifacts, the Dinosaur Hall is sure to capture you and your children's attention. Upstairs on the mezzanine are displays of archaeology methods and real artifacts that are ready for hands on exploration. Along with touch screen kiosks and other great mechanical displays that are great for tactile stimulation for people and children of all ages.
Tickets
Admission to the Dinosaur Hall is free with paid regular admission to the Natural History Museum. Due to the massive popularity of the Dinosaur Hall, reservations are required to visit with a specific date and time. Reservations can be made in advance by purchasing tickets online. Ticket prices are $12 for adults, $9 for seniors and students, $8 youth ages 13 and up $5 for children 5-12 and children 4 and under are free. The Natural History Museum is open 7 days a week (except major U.S. holidays) from 9:30 am – 5pm. The best time to visit the Natural History Museum to beat the crowds is weekday afternoons during the school year and early mornings on the weekends year round.
Food and Parking
Outside food is not allowed inside of the Natural History Museum; however a park picnic in Exposition Park or near the rose garden is quite nice. You can head outside to let the kids burn off some energy before you head back in to the Museum. If you're up for some on-site dining, the NHM Grill is now open on the ground level of the museum and offers a full-service restaurant menu with indoor/outdoor seating with plenty of healthful food options for the entire family.
Parking in the NHM car park off of Exposition Blvd and Bill Robertson Lane is only $8 (cash only). Lots near the museum in Exposition Park are $10 (cash only).
