A Guide to Newport Beach Restaurant Week

Coming up January 20-29, Newport Beach restaurant week gives diners a chance to sample some of the finest cuisine in Newport Beach at discounted prices. All of the restaurants that are participating in the restaurant week will offer a prix fixe three course menu at a variety of price levels. Advanced reservations are required for all restaurant week specials. Here is a sampling of what to expect.

Newport Beach Airport Area

Ten Asian Bistro has some of the most delicious fine dining Japanese food in Newport Beach. They are offering lunch and dinner reservations with lunch priced at $20 per person and dinner priced at $40 per person. The top picks from the menu would be the miso soup or edamame. Savor in a Bento box for lunch or enjoy the Cashew honey chicken from the dinner menu while enjoying the Asian flare décor.

Balboa Island

Wilma's Patio has been a favorite of mine since I was a child riding my bike around Balboa Island. They have a causal relaxed family friendly environment with wholesome good food. Wilma's Patio is offering $10 lunch and $20 dinner three course meal options for Restaurant Week.

Balboa Peninsula

Avila's has been a long time favorite to locals in Newport Beach for some of the most authentic Mexican food around. Avila's El Ranchito is offering $10 lunch specials and $20 dinner specials for the event. The top pick for lunch would be the Mazatlan grilled mahi mahi, or the two mole chicken enchiladas for dinner. Do not forget to enjoy a strawberry filled churro for dessert.

Newport Landing is offering ocean front dining three course meals for only $30 per person. Start off the evening with a bowl of their famous clam chowder, followed by a delicious rib eye steak. Dinner includes a glass of house wine or beer and a pick from their selected dessert menu.

This iconic Newport Beach restaurant is offering a $20 lunch and a $40 dinner menu. The Cannery, located right alongside Newport bay, has been a favorite for locals to enjoy fine dining seafood fare. The Cannery has been getting fresh fish right off of local boats from around the world delivered fresh to the table prepared by culinary artists.

Corona del Mar/Mariner's Mile

Get into the spirit of aloha at Tommy Bahamas restaurant. Come wearing your favorite Reyn Spooner shirt, prepared to dine in paradise. Enjoy their world famous coconut shrimp or their blackberry brandy pork ribs, followed by a slice of pina colada cake. Meals are priced at $15 for lunch and $30 for dinner during restaurant week.

SOL Cocina offers a flavorful vegan and vegetarian menu options with a Mexican cuisine flair. The restaurant features Executive Chef Deborah Schneider's bold, modern interpretations of traditional Coastal Mexican cuisine with a focus on fresh, sustainable ingredients. Roy's has been one of my favorite restaurants since it first opened in Fashion Island. The fish that they serve is fresh and true to Hawaiian cuisine. Roy's will be open for dinner offering a delicious $40 three course meal. The top menu picks would be their grilled pear salad, followed by the Shishu crusted Salmon with a pear tart puffed pastry for dessert. Dinner will include a glass of wine perfectly paired to bring out the flavors of your meal.
