Record Heat Hit LAX Days After Rain Swept Through SoCal

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA) — Heat records were broken Tuesday at Los Angeles International Airport just days after a storm traveled across the Southland.

Temperatures at the airport reached a high of 80 degrees, a degree hotter than the previous March 3 record of 79 degrees.

"Normally we should be seeing temperatures mainly in the 70's," said CBSLA Meteorologist Amber Lee.

The record heat comes days after rain swept through Southern California on Sunday.
