NORTH HOLLYWOOD (CBSLA) — Police are investigating an altercation in the North Hollywood Arts District that put one man in the hospital and caused a car crash.

A spokesperson for The Brews Brothers bar on Lankershim Blvd. said a man was escorted out of the bar after acting inappropriately Friday night. Police say just after that, there was an incident in an alley adjacent to the bar.

Police later told CBS2 News that one of the men involved in that dispute may have tried to run down the others with his car. The car flipped over as it sped down the alley.

Officers say the group then pulled the driver out of the car and beat him so severely that he had to be hospitalized.

Police say they made a total of seven arrests.

The vehicle sped down the alleyway, then when he was crossing the street Hartsook to continue through the alley there was a group of people crossing the alleyway road. Then he braked, honked, the group dispersed to avoid contact, but he ended up clipping one of the individuals which caused him to fall to the ground. Then when passing the group of people he was still braking, skidding, and swerved to the right. He lost control, hit a parked car on the right side of the alley, and flipped over.

At that point I called 911 and wasn’t clear if he exited the vehicle of his own volition, or if the group grabbed him out of the vehicle, but by the time I got to the scene of the accident the group had surrounded him stomping, and kicking him. I don’t know that this was a pre-existing fight in the bar. It seemed to all have stemmed from the accident. However, I wasn’t in the bar that you are mentioning. This was all what I witnessed walking through the alley going home from work.
