Nevada Authorities Investigating Possible Ridgecrest Earthquake-Related Death

NYE COUNTY, Nevada (CBSLA) — The Nye County Sheriff's Department released a video Tuesday about a possible death related to the Ridgecrest earthquake.

In the video, Sgt. Adam Tippets said deputies found a 56-year-old man pinned under a vehicle July 9.

Deputies believe the man was working on the vehicle when it fell off the jacks, possibly during one of two earthquakes that hit the Ridgecrest area last week.
The location of the death is more than 130 miles from the epicenter of the earthquakes that left families in Ridgecrest and Trona without running water, electricity and some without homes.

Tippets said more information will be released as soon as the investigation is complete.
